What kind of humidifier is the AprilAire humidifier? This product uses water in its liquid form and turns it into a vapor. The water vapor is helpful whenever the humidity level in the home is low and there seems to be a static or dry feel to your space. By adding a humidifier to the HVAC system fan it can disperse this moisture through the home by means of moving air.
AprilAire humidifiers are designed to maintain a relative humidity level at or around 35% anytime the outside temperature is 20F or above and an indoor temperature is around 70F. Whenever there is a need to add humidity to your home, the humidifier control will sense this and it will send a signal to the humidifier to operate its cycle.
Water is introduced into the humidifier and flows over the evaporator. The air moving through the HVAC system moves through the evaporator absorbing the moisture into the air. The vapor is then distributed to your home, through the duct work by the blower of the HVAC system. The humidifying process continues until the humidification set point has been reached or the HVAC system reaches set temperature and takes a break in operating. Water not used in the evaporation process is used to flush away mineral deposits left behind from the evaporation process.
The only models where deposits are not flushed out and through a drain are the 400/400M models, since they are drain-free humidifiers. Most AprilAire evaporative humidifiers are wired by the HVAC installer as they are chosen based on your needs for your set up. They are then set to only operate when the heat is operating. humidifier, gas piping, electrical, vents
